The bizarre decision to exclude Karate from the 2024 Paris Olympics by the powers that be needs to be revisited!

We, the karate leaders of the world, cannot afford the OLYMPIC karate dreams of millions of today’s Youth to be shattered!

We, KSA, will not sit back and take no for an answer. WKF be rest assured your fight for justice is our fight !!!

Karate Team SA Triumph In Gaborone

A team of 93 top ranked karateka’s travelled to Gaborone on 22nd May 2018 to participate in and represent South Africa at the AUSC Region 5 Karate Championship.

The tournament was held at the Boipisu Hall, Fairground Convention Center in Gaborone, capital of Botswana. The participating countries included Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The SA team lead by team manager Shani Lakaram and assisted by Kruben Pillay, coaches Vijay Govender, Quinton Rourke, Team captains Theo Pillay, Tamzin Rowe, team doctor: Dr Woogan Reddy and Physio Therapist, Anke Langenhorst returned on Sunday bringing back 16 Gold medals, 21 silver and 46 Bronze. An exuberating performance from South Africa.

Protea coach and head of technical affairs of Karate South Africa, Shihan Brando Pillay, was elated at these results and mentioned that the team trained tirelessly and was ready for some tough competition. Exhilarating performance by our senior male team Kata, Jesse Sim, Justin Baynes and Khardan Ruocchio won Gold in this event, echoed by our cadet female kata, Bianca Ferreirinah, olivia Smargiasso and Chanel Van Niekerk. Senior male kumite awarded silver medal whilst the female team kumite was awarded bronze.

Outstanding performance from Team SA bringing home a total of 83 medals.

In a statement from Karate South Africa President, Hanshi Sonny Pillay expressed his delight at the outstanding performances of our team “Once again Team KSA delivers on its promise of sporting excellence achieving number ONE status in our African Zone 6 Region 5, no mean feat indeed ! Congrats to the Management coaches referees and most importantly the athletes,“ said the President.

“Special word of thanks must be afforded to our KSA VP (execo. official of Region 5) who represented KSA on the political front at the official congress prior to the said championships kick off,“ added the President of KSA
